In 2019, the total population of Jilin Province is 26.9073 million, including 15.6793 million permanent urban residents accounting for 58.27% of the total population (urbanization rate of permanent residents).

Jilin is a multi-ethnic province with 56 ethnic groups such as Han, Korean, Manchu, Mongol, Hui and Sibe. The Korean ethnicity is mainly distributed in Yanbian, Jilin, Tonghua and Baishan in the east, the Mongol ethnicity and Sibe ethnicity are mainly distributed in Baicheng and Songyuan in the west, and Manchu ethnicity and Hui ethnicity are mainly distributed in Changchun, Jilin, Tonghua and Siping.
