On September 23, the 13th China-Northeast Asia Expo Opening Ceremony & 11th High-level Forum on Northeast Asia Cooperation was held in Changchun. Yang Jiechi pointed out that the China-Northeast Asia Expo and the High-level Forum on Northeast Asia cooperation have been playing a positive role in promoting the prosperity and development of the region, and at present, the combined forces of changes and a pandemic both unseen in a century have made the call for meeting challenges together grow stronger than ever. He added that President Xi Jinping proposed a Global Development Initiative at the general debate of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly, charting the course for regional development and cooperation. Countries in Northeast Asia should further seek consensus on cooperation, jointly respond to the crisis and promote regional development, he said.

Yang stressed that Northeast Asian countries should carry out cooperation against the virus, work together to build a global community of health for all, jointly oppose politicizing virus origin-tracing and resolutely beat this pandemic. We need to deepen economic and trade cooperation, boost a full recovery of the economy, eliminate the adverse impact of the epidemic and further promote trade and investment liberalization and facilitation. We need to strengthen industrial cooperation, broaden development space, give full play to the unique advantages of Northeast Asia and promote the establishment of an open, smooth, secure and stable regional industrial system. We need to enhance digital cooperation, pursue innovation-driven development, expand cooperation from low-end to high-end areas and jointly cooperate in financial innovations. We need to carry out cooperation on people's livelihood, promote the sustainable development of Northeast Asia, consolidate and expand achievements in poverty eradication and bring benefits to people in the region.

This year, China's economy continues to show a stable recovery trend, and its pace of opening-up continues to accelerate, Yang said, adding that China is implementing a new development philosophy and a new development dynamic as the country enters a new development stage, which will provide more opportunities for all parties. Yang welcomed all parties to actively integrate into the Chinese market for common development.

Jing Junhai, Party chief of Jilin province, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Han Jun, deputy secretary of the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee and governor of the province, presided over the opening ceremony.

On behalf of the Jilin provincial Party committee and the provincial government, Jing Junhai extended a warm welcome to the participants. He said that Jilin, located in the geographic and geometric center of Northeast Asia, is an important industrial base and commodity grain base in China, and at present, it is fully implementing General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speeches and instructions and its "one pillar, six doubles" high-quality development strategy, and making every effort to create a new height for opening-up and cooperation in Northeast Asia. With the theme of "Join Hands with Northeast Asian Countries for New Development", this year's China-Northeast Asia Expo is to carry out a series of activities for cooperation and exchanges, which will further build consensus and promote mutually beneficial cooperation at a higher level. Jing said that Jilin stands ready to work with all parties to seek common development, to overcome current difficulties and to forge ahead hand in hand. First, we need to stay committed to cooperation as a priority and continue to strengthen economic and trade ties to achieve mutual benefits and win-win results at a higher level. Second, we need to support innovation-driven development and jointly explore new technologies, business patterns and models to create new growth drivers. Third, we need to promote openness and improve connectivity to integrate into the global supply chain, industrial chain and value chain. Fourth, we need to take exchanges as a bridge and carry out in-depth cooperation in education, science and technology, sports, ice and snow and leisure tourism to foster a diversified and interactive pattern of cultural cooperation. Fifth, we need to follow the people-centered philosophy and overcome the pandemic challenge together to safeguard the life, health and safety of people in the region.

Amarsaikhan, vice-premier of Mongolia, Yoon Jeong-ho, Minister of Foreign Economy of the DPRK, Park Jong-soo, chairman of the North Economic Cooperation Commission of the ROK, Yasumasa Nagasaka, State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, Andrei Denisov, Russian ambassador to China, Romano Prodi, former Prime Minister of Italy, and Nina Kopola, Director General of Business Finland, delivered speeches in video and written forms. They agreed that the China-Northeast Asia Expo has been playing an important role in promoting and developing economic and trade cooperation among Northeast Asian countries, and they looked forward to more in-depth exchanges and cooperation with China and Jilin province in technological innovation, low-carbon economy, ice and snow industry, investment and finance to jointly promote the prosperity and development of Northeast Asia.

Wang Bingnan, vice-minister of the Ministry of Commerce, Cong Liang, deputy head of the National Development and Reform Commission, and Ke Liangdong, vice-chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, said in their speeches that the China-Northeast Asia Expo is an important platform for Northeast Asian countries to discuss economic and trade cooperation and seek mutual benefits and win-win results, and China is ready to work with all Northeast Asian countries to deepen industrial cooperation, create cooperation platforms, improve cooperation mechanisms and inject new impetus into the economic development of Northeast Asia.

Before the opening of the expo, Yang Jiechi, accompanied by Jing Junhai and Han Jun, visited the Jilin Pavilion, Automobile Pavilion and Technological Innovation Pavilion.

Liu Jianchao, deputy director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee, Xu Feihong, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sun Wenkang, director of the GAC Department of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, and Lin Yi, vice president of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, attended the opening ceremony and forum.

Leaders of all provinces, equivalent administrative units and key cities, diplomatic envoys of Northeast Asian countries to China, representatives of international organizations and institutions in China, heads of well-known business associations and financial institutions, executives of Global 500 companies and multinational enterprises, executives of State-owned enterprises directly under the central government and famous private enterprises, experts and scholars, officials of Jilin province attended the opening ceremony.
