Tiangong II- and Shenzhou XI-carried Seeds Settle in Tumen
On the morning of March 11, CASC’s space breeding research center and the Tumen City government in Beijing China Science and Technology Hall held a "Temple II- and Shenzhou XI-carried seed transfer & China (Tumen) space breeding demonstration base" signing ceremony. CASC’s space breeding research center director Zhao Bing transferred quinoa, jade peach, ginseng and other space seeds to Tumen City.
At the ceremony, Chinese aerospace seed breeding expert, China Hi-Tech Industrialization Research Association Chairman and CASC’s space breeding research center chief engineer Qu Jianwei, on behalf of CASC’s space breeding research center, awarded a "China (Tumen) space breeding demonstration base" plaque to Tumen City.
Through this contract signing, CASC’s space breeding research center and the Tumen City government will spend efforts to build "China (Tumen) space breeding demonstration base" to be a space breeding industry base integrating quality seed breeding, planting and cultivating combination, research and innovation, product development, science education and demonstration and promotion. Through the space technology advantages, accurately take measures, accurately alleviate poverty and create a new good start for promoting the border ethnic minority area’s in-depth military and civilian integration and accelerating the implementation of the innovation-driven development strategy.
As the country’s first city signing a contract with CASC’s space breeding research center in a local government form, next step, Tumen City will accelerate the innovation-driven development strategy, focus on cultivating China (Tumen) space breeding demonstration base’s characteristic agricultural brands and rely on the "aerospace effect" to build itself to be the Tumen River region’s space breeding demonstration center city. Meanwhile, driven by the base’s radiation role, make full use of the space breeding research results, achieve new breakthroughs in the space carrying experiments, breed cultivation and breeding, space and agriculture integration and other aspects, give a scientific and technological development power to the border ethnic minority area’s characteristic agriculture, continue to improve the quality of agricultural products, and promote the agriculture to enhance efficiency and farmers to increase income.
