2014/05/08     Source:

May is just about the end of spring and beginning of summer, not as chill as early spring and not as hot as midsummer. May comes through gracefully strolling, shows the soft elegance and makes the sleeping earth lively. Such a season has always enabled people to be unable to contain any longer for traveling in waters and mountains to admire the beauty of various booming flowers, listen to the sweet and agreeable singing of orioles and taste the dainty flavor of delicacies.

The tour to go outing for admiring flowers in spring

Speaking of admiring the beauty of flowers, I believe many photography enthusiasts will select to watch the pear garden where "a night spring breeze brings millions of pear blossoms to bloom". There have been quite a lot of good places for watching pear blossoms in the province, but from the perspective of visibility and appreciation, the outstanding one must be Yanbian 10,000-mu apple and pear farm. Driving to the territory of Yanbian, you will see stretches of snow-white and crystal pear flowers on roadsides; parking and roaming among them, you will appreciate full-path fragrant snow that is too beautiful to be absorbed all at once, and once light breeze comes to slowly swing pear branches, you will enjoy the mood "flowers are flying, withering and falling and covering the whole sky". Looking ahead, you will wander and not be willing to leave as pear flowers are crystal as jade and 10,000-mu snow is dime as the Milky Way.

Different from snow-white, crystal and clean and pure pear flowers, Jindal, also growing in Yanbian Prefecture, is as red as fire and bright as rosy clouds. As the prefecture flower of Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture, Jindal is the symbol of a faithful and tenacious nationality in Yanbian. To let more visitors understand and appreciate Jindal, Helong City, Yanbian Prefecture, known as the hometown of Jindal, will hold "China • Helong Changbai Mountain Jindal International Cultural Tourism Festival" every April, attracting flower lovers across the country to share the event. While admiring the beauty of flowers, visitors can walk into Jindal Korean Folk Village to taste the authentic Korean cuisine, enjoy the original-ecology Korean dance performances, watch watching wrestling, seesawing and other folk sports performances and appreciate the elegant appearance of "China's No. 1 Korean Village".

The tour to come to wetlands for watching birds

As the weather gets warmer, migratory birds will start the long and arduous migratory journey. Every April and May, tens of thousands of migratory birds will gather and inhabit at Zhenlai Momoge Nature Reserve, attracting a large number of domestic and foreign tourists and bird lowers.

"In order to let migratory birds have a beautiful dating, every spring, I will come to Momoge Nature Reserve", said a Changchun photography enthusiast Mr. Liu told journalists, adding as the local natural environment has continued to improve in recent years, the number of visitors and photography enthusiasts coming to Momoge Nature Reserve is gradually growing year by year and the wetland that "nobody asks in sight" is developing to be a hot tourist destination that "visitors come in distance".

Now, entering Momoge Nature Reserve, you will be welcomed by a wetland scene that the water and the sky merge in one color and thousands of birds flying together. "All nature in spring looks smiling and gay, the sun is bright, and the lake is tranquil and merges with the azure sky into a vast expanse of blue." The 144,000-hectare wetland is rolling out slowly as a colorful natural picture and the delicate and green grass has sketched out a prairie-like curve; the around-the-ear water sound is filled with freshness and gracefulness of a region of rivers and lakes. The reserve-based scattered lakes and pools and vertical and horizontal rivers have bred inexhaustible baits, attracting tens of thousands of migratory birds to come for inhabiting and reproducing each year. As introduced by a worker at the reserve, 298 kinds of hundreds of thousands of red-crowned cranes, white cranes, oriental white storks and other rare water birds have inhabited and stopped here each year, including 35 kinds of birds included into the national grade I and II protected birds, and especially the majority is white cranes and white storks. The inhabiting time and population of white cranes in Momoge Nature Reserve is the longest and most in the world and concerned by the international and domestic organizations.

In addition to Momoge Nature Reserve, Tongyu Xianghai Nature Reserve has also attracted a large number of tourists to come for watching birds. There are three river systems in the reserve, Huolin, Emutai and Taoer rivers; a large number of herbs are growing on the meadow in the marsh land, the main grazing area for local residents. Between the meadow and lakes, dunes interlock and rise and fall, where a natural elm forest grows. The surrounding environment is quiet and there are rich fishes and aquatic biological resources, which are good baits for a variety of waterfowls. A large area of reeds provides a secluded place for waterfowls to inhabit and breed. The kind of surveyed and recorded birds by far hits 200. Every spring and autumn, red-crowned cranes, white-naped cranes, white cranes, Demoiselle cranes, gray cranes, white storks, and many geese, ducks, herons and gulls will flock to here in succession and nidificate and lay eggs in the vast marsh and wetland. Wandering in the vast and mysterious Xianghai Nature Reserve, overlooking the immense wetland, and watching whole slopes of flowers beside the marsh, flying birds and swimming fishes, you will suddenly have a sense "I build a hut in the human realm,     but hear no clamor of traffic."

The tour to taste river-reopening fishes

Every late April, when ice and snow melts and everything is gone green in the earth of Northeast China and ice layers on the Nenjiang, Ussuri and Songhua rivers are gradually melting and disintegrating to form mighty ice floes on the river surface to float downstream to form "river reopening". As ice thaws, fishes stuck in the ice for four to five months have been awakened by spring breeze and started to "file out". Very different from fishes in other seasons, because these fishes have suffered hunger for the entire winter, the body fat has disappeared, waste has been cleanly discharged and the meat becomes very tight and is not fat and mashed and unusually delicious. Once properly cooked, the taste is indescribably delicious and river-reopening fishes have become a rare delicacy and occupy a position in China's famous "four fresh delicacies".

"River-reopening fishes" are named because such fishes only exist during river reopening and people can eat fresh and delicious river-reopening fishes only in about 20 days in April May in a year. Later, spring air flows into water, fishes will not be that fresh and delicious to be as many other fishes because of beginning to grow and absorbing both essence and foul smell. Dependants knowing the ropes will come here at every river reopening to taste river-reopening fishes at will. Many locals, who come and sit on campstools on the shore at spare time for fishing, quietly wait for fishes to rise to the bait. This kind of laid-back life that "I keep clear when the whole world is murky" is enviable. While experiencing the joy when fishes rise to the bait, they also can taste fresh and delicious river-reopening fishes at the first time.

In recent years, more and more diners have come to the Songhua Lake for travelling and tasting fishes out of admiration. To allow visitors to enjoy authentic river-reopening fishes and expand the visibility and reputation of the Songhua Lake, since 2006, Jilin City has successfully held eight-term "Jilin Songhua River River-reopening Fish Food Festival". This year's river-reopening fish food festival started from April 19 and will last to June 30. During the festival period, tourists can not only watch the spectacular scene that fishermen catch river-reopening fishes and taste the full-fish feast, but also have a sightseeing of the beautiful Songhua Lake full of mists and ripples and beyond-the-horizon watery blue.
