The Jilin Provincial Department of Transport has accelerated the construction of major economy, tourism and national defense highway projects and has built 700 kilometers of trunk roads in the whole province. Proportions of national and provincial roads of grade II and above have reached 90.3 percent and 60 percent respectively, 6.8 and 2.3 percentage points higher than that at the end of the 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-15). All counties, key towns and townships, as well as major stations, scenic spots and parks have had access to roads of grade II or above, providing a strong boost to the development of the province’s import and export, modern tourism and green eco-industries. Trunk roads have become an important engine for the promotion of regional economic development, thriving businesses, the development of agriculture, rural areas and farmers and urbanization construction.
