On November 20, 2020, Tonghua county was selected for the 6th national civilized city list. The county has implemented 136 livelihood projects and heart-warming projects, and local people's sense of fulfillment, happiness and security has continued to enhance. 

 

Tonghua county promotes digital city management, maintains public facilities in a timely manner, improves the construction of urban accessible facilities, comprehensively cleans up and unblocks fire control passageways and promptly repairs faulty street lamps and power distribution facilities to ensure a 100% urban lighting rate. The county invests 25 million yuan in infrastructure projects such as road reconstruction, riverbed improvement and street lighting, strengthens garbage sorting management with new-added 300 trash cans and 4,600 garbage bins, makes an effort to solve the environmental problem of outskirts and to improve the environment conditions of entrances and exits in four directions, launches the toilet revolution with the upgrade of 9 public toilets, advocates green travel with 3 new bus routes and 26 new energy buses into service, implements the "washing city" project with 90% mechanized cleaning rate of urban roads and enhances compassionate care with 16 new wheelchair ramps, so as to facilitate the mobility of special groups. The county also strengthens the construction of riverbank road facilities in the urban area with three new routes in the Maoshan Park and vigorously promotes afforestation in combination with the national forest city construction work. The 4.1-km Apricot Avenue becomes a new internet-famous site. The urban landscape of "eco-Tonghua county, civilization everywhere" is increasingly improving.
