Hunchun-Ulanhot Expressway, passing through Changchun, Jilin, Yanbian, Tumen and Hunchun, is an important channel to ensure the implementation of the "one pillar, six doubles" industrial spatial layout, integrate the inland of the province into the Bohai Sea, the Sea of Japan and other marine economic circles to the east, and continue to strengthen economic and trade ties with Northeast Asia. The expressway also provides superior transportation hardware facilities for the development of the Chang-Ji-Tu Development and Opening-up Pilot Area which accounts for one third of the regional area and population and one half of the total economic volume.
Changchun city, located in the Changchun-Jilin section of the Hunchun-Ulanhot Expressway, is a well-deserved auto city and famous for China FAW Group. In recent years, Jilin provincial governments at all levels and FAW have planned and launched the Hongqi Fanrong Plant Project to help FAW's "831" and "3341" action plans carry out smoothly, to boost the expansion of Hongqi brand, and to speed up the regional economic and social development of Changchun. The Changchun Automobile Economic and Technological Development Zone has invested 7.8 billion yuan to support the implementation of the project, creating and exploring a new mode of government-enterprise cooperation.
At the FAW Hongqi new energy vehicle factory in Changchun International Auto City, the staff are conducting equipment debugging in an orderly way. The factory had its groundbreaking ceremony on April 15, 2020 and took 14 and a half months to complete and deliver the whole project, and it is currently in the assembly and commissioning stage of the production line, which is expected to be put into operation in this October, according to Zhang Yudong, director of infrastructure construction of FAW Group Engineering Department. He added that in the future, the factory will mainly produce Hongqi brand new energy vehicles, with an annual production capacity of 200,000 vehicles and an annual output value of 40 billion yuan.
A two-hour drive from the FAW Hongqi new energy vehicle factory along the Changchun-Jilin section of the Hunchun-Ulanhot Expressway brings people to the Jilin Petrochemical Company's synthetic resin plant in Jilin city. The company has three sets of ABS devices with a total production capacity of 600,000 tons/year. Jilin Petrochemical, as the largest ABS resin production base of State-owned enterprises, ranks fifth in the world, third in China and first in State-owned enterprises in terms of production capacity.
There are some light Ivory-colored plastic particles on the product display stand at the synthetic resin plant, which are the size of rice grains. They are ABS resin. When the plastic particles are heated and melted, they can be reshaped into other shapes and then cooled to form. ABS resin, as one of the world's five general plastics, is widely used in electronic appliances, automobiles, light industry, construction and other fields. Safety helmets, children's toys and household appliances and so on are inseparable from ABS resin.
In 2018, the Jilin Petrochemical ABS R&D Center was recognized as "CNPC ABS Technology Center" by CNPC, which is the only industrialized and specialized ABS resin research institute relying on large industrial base in China. The launch of the center is to meet the urgent needs of CNPC's main business, to improve the scientific and technological innovation system, to develop key core technologies, to achieve scientific and technological innovation and efficiency, and to enhance the ability of independent innovation. The center, since its establishment, has actively undertaken scientific research and development projects of the state, the province, cities and group companies, with more than 10 projects per year.
