9th GTI Northeast Asia Tourism Forum held in Hunchun

On November 12, the ninth GTI Northeast Asia Tourism Forum was held in Hunchun city via video link. Representatives from the Greater Tumen Initiative (GTI) Secretariat of the United Nations Development Programme, the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), China, Mongolia, South Korea and Russia, as well as experts of the academic community attended the meeting.

The forum was aimed at studying and discussing the new development trend of tourism in Northeast Asia, exploring the strategy to cope with the impact of COVID-19, enhancing the cooperation among tourism departments and promoting the recovery and sustainable development of tourism in Northeast Asia.
 
To cope with the impact of COVID-19 on international tourism, the UNWTO is to provide support for GTI regions in the form of "technical assistance recovery package", said Vanessa Satur, manager of the UNWTO Technical Cooperation and Silk Road Department.
