On the afternoon of September 3, the Jilin Province Day event—global promotion conference for the China-ROK (Changchun) International Cooperation Demonstration Zone, as one of the contents of the 2020 China International Fair for Trade in Services, was held at Changbaishan International Hotel in Beijing. More than 100 people participated in the conference, including representatives from the South Korean Embassy in China, 24 South Korean enterprises, South Korean business associations in China and 35 well-known domestic enterprises, as well as heads of the Jilin provincial government, the Changchun municipal Party committee, the Changchun municipal government and the relevant departments directly under the provincial government.
The China-ROK (Changchun) International Cooperation Demonstration Zone is located in the traffic hinterland extending in all directions with rich natural resources. Industrial chains, product chains, innovation chains and value chains of the zone and South Korea, as well as Northeast Asian countries are highly complementary, showing broad prospects for cooperation. The zone is a synergy area of multiple national development strategies such as China's Belt and Road Initiative, South Korea's New Northern Policy, Russia's Far East Development Strategy and Mongolia's Grassland Road. Since South Korea is an important source of foreign investment and the largest tourist market for inbound tourism, Jilin province has established friendly relations with Gangwon-do and other regions in South Korea, and Changchun city has established sister-city relations with six South Korean cities like Ulsan city. During the conference, relevant heads of Jilin province introduced the latest situation of the zone to the participants, released the industrial direction, major projects and investment promotion policies of the zone and welcomed everyone to visit the province, especially Changchun city, to renew friendship, discuss cooperation, seek common development and share the great opportunities of the development of Jilin in the new era.
Before the conference, the Jilin Provincial Department of Commerce and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council held a cooperation signing ceremony and signed a memorandum to deepen the economic and trade cooperation between Jilin and Hong Kong. The two sides agreed to make full use of Jilin's industrial advantages, to give full play to the advantages of Hong Kong's professional services and platforms, to promote the complementarity of each other's strengths, to strengthen the sharing of resources, to improve personnel exchanges between two sides and to deepen economic and trade cooperation.
