In recent years, Jilin province has comprehensively launched the strategy of taking the lead in realizing agricultural modernization, taken promoting agricultural mechanization as an important support to the improvement of modern agricultural development level and made great efforts in pushing the high-quality and efficient development of agricultural mechanization.

By the end of 2019, the number of tractors with more than 200 horsepower in the province increased by 168 percent year on year, and the number of agricultural implements such as no-tillage planter, corn combine harvester and rice transplanter increased by over 10 percent year on year. The comprehensive mechanization level of the whole province’s main crops in ploughing, sowing and harvesting reached 89.2 percent, nearly 20 percentage points higher than the national average level, laying a solid foundation for accelerating the agricultural modernization construction of the province.

In 2006, the province began to demonstrate and explore conservation farming techniques with no-tillage seeding as the core. In 2009, the province developed and produced the tractor-driven no-tillage planter, achieving a new breakthrough in conservation farming machinery. At present, there are more than 20,000 sets of tractor-driven no-tillage planters in the whole province. This year, a total of 720 million yuan has been invested by the central and provincial governments to implement conservation tillage of 18.5 million mu (about 1.233 million hectares).

For the past few years, the province’s agricultural mechanization has stepped into the age of intelligence and information, and the efficiency of agricultural machinery operation management has been greatly improved.

Up to now, the province’s mechanical operations such as subsoiling, corn harvesting, potato sowing and harvesting, as well as straw picking and bundling have realized remote electronic monitoring and information management. 18,000 sets of monitoring terminal devices have been installed, covering an area of 46 million mu (about 3.067 million hectares).
