Except the visa-free applicants, aliens entering into China, in principle, should apply for visas in advance in the Chinese Embassies and Consulates of the People’s Republic of China, or the Offices of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in Hong Kong, Macau Special Administrative Regions, or other Resident Agencies authorized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China (for more information, please visit: http://www.mfa.gov.cn/chn/wjb/zwjg/default.htm)
The Chinese Embassies and Consulates stationed abroad all have their own territorial divisions, so applicants in principle should apply to the Chinese Embassies and Consulates in their residential areas. Except the applicants in such countries that the citizens there are required to apply to the designated Chinese Embassies and Consulates covering their residential areas, applicants in other countries may also apply to the Chinese Embassies and Consulates which are near to their residential areas.
Aliens who hold the ordinary passports should apply for extension or alteration of visas after entering into China. Applications should be submitted to the local public security departments above the county level authorized by the Ministry of Public Security of China.
