On the second match day of the eighth Asian Winter Games in Sapporo, Japan on February 21, the Chinese delegation won two gold medals and two bronze medals. In the men and women’s 500-meter short track speed skating, Jilin Province’s famous player Wu Dajing and younger player Zang Yize won gold medals, respectively, and Wu Dajing also created a new Asian record.
Wu Dajing from Jilin City, Jilin Province performed well in the men's 500-meter short track speed skating. After the final started, Wu Dajing has kept leading all the way and South Korean players chased but never surpassed. Ultimately, with superior strength and a peak competitive state, Wu Dajing took the lead to cross the finish line and won the championship with a score of 40 seconds and 764 milliseconds, presenting the fifth gold medal for the Chinese delegation and the second gold medal for the short track speed skating team. As early as the semifinals, Wu Dajing created a new Asian record with a score of 40 seconds and 714 milliseconds.
In the previous women’s 500-meter short track speed skating, Chinese younger player Zang Yize also showed an excellent athletic level and won the championship with a score of 43 seconds and 911 milliseconds.
In addition, in the women's 1.500-meter speed skating, the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics champion Zhang Hong won a bronze medal. In the women's group speed skating, Chinese team consisting of Zhao Xin, Liu Jing and Han Mei won another bronze medal with a score of three minutes, 10 seconds and 23 milliseconds.
