Jilin Province has a wide range of energy resources. New and renewable energy, represented by wind energy, biomass energy and solar energy, are relatively rich and have great potential for development.

 

Fossil energy. The provincial has 2.67 billion tons of proven reserves of coal resources, of which 970 million tons are recoverable reserves; crude oil reserves are 1.56 billion tons; natural gas reserves are 1.89 billion cubic meters; proven oil shale reserves are 108.6 billion tons, ranking first in the country; coalbed methane reserves are 20.8 billion cubic meters.

New and renewable energy sources. There are 57.444 million kilowatt for hydropower technology development, 200 million kilowatt for wind energy potential development and 54 million kilowatt for installed capacity, 43 million tons for crop straw collection, 15 million tons for energy utilization and 80 million kilowatt for solar energy.

It plays an important role in peak regulation, frequency regulation and accident reserve in water conservancy system, energy saving and emission reduction, ecological environment protection and economic sustainable development in Songhua River Basin.
