Jilin Provincial Art Museum is a non-profit institution providing cultural services for the public. At present, Jilin Provincial Art Museum boasts a collection of more than artworks.

Based on collections, Jilin Provincial Art Museum aims to educate the public by means of exhibitions. The Museum keeps paying attention to the local artists so as to promote art accumulation over history in Jilin Province. And at the same time, it held a number of thematic exhibitions, such as the works exhibition contemporary Chinese calligraphers, the exhibition of landscape paintings by Wang Qinghuai, etc.; with a strong sense of historical responsibility, it also organized many large-scale exhibitions concerning national defense education, including the art exhibition commemorating the 70th anniversary of the great victory of the world anti-fascist war and the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, the art exhibition commemorating the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, and so on. Several series of exhibitions designed to boost art exchange inside and outside were held every two years, such as Jilin Biennial of Print Artworks, Jilin Biennial of calligraphy works, Jilin Biennial of oil paintings, Jilin Biennial of traditional Chinese paintings, etc.
